Paper Topic Ideas For Eastern Europe From 1950s
Paper Topic Ideas For Eastern Europe From 1950'sThe best paper topic ideas for Eastern Europe from 1950's have always had something to do with the Cold War. After all, who better to write about in the paper than the world's most powerful military machine, the United States of America? I mean think about it; how many of us were in East Germany during the early 1960's and if we were there at all, did we really understand what was going on, much less protest?Eastern Europe was never a part of the Soviet Union before the war. Communism was only just a concept back then, in countries like Czechoslovakia and Hungary, as well as Poland. The idea of spreading communism across the face of the earth was nothing more than an outrageous pipe dream. As far as these Eastern European countries were concerned, the US had already won the war. The civil war in Vietnam was another form of propaganda too much to swallow, when compared to the fact that the Soviets were basically on top of America. Vietnam had always been seen as a buffer between Communist China and the West. Only the Soviets were constantly forcing their will on Vietnam. The reality was that the USSR was so powerful that their armies had a better position on the front lines than the US, combined. And then there was that whole mess with the Berlin blockade. We thought that we were winning the war, but in the end the Soviets had the upper hand in this conflict and out maneuvered us.With a perceived inferiority complex, as well as a penchant for rhetoric, the US began to see the word communism as just another form of propaganda. Once communism became a dirty word, then it was okay to declare martial law, and imprison thousands. In doing so, the US government once again, had undermined its own soldiers, who really didn't understand why they were ordered to stop fighting.East Europe has yet to completely recover from the cold war. When civil wars broke out in Yugoslavia, then the US worked closely with NATO. NATO, however , quickly became more than a mere acronym; it eventually included Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, and the Czech Republic as full members.Even today, Western Europe is still recovering from the internal conflicts of the cold war. Things like an anti-coup coup in Ukraine or the pro-Western protests of Eastern Europe are getting more attention than ever, while the West is quiet as ever. Now then, if you are planning on doing a paper topic for Eastern Europe from 1950's, you may want to take a page from history. Instead of getting caught up in the hot war, I would suggest you use that war as a way to look at the Cold War in an entirely different light. This is a simple, yet effective approach and will help you get more bang for your buck!
